Thanks to the video by Richard Rawlings, we now have a close up of the front and back of the original BAN ONE license plate.

It is interesting that the letters are not embossed. Apparently that is typical for a movie prop. I also noticed the letters are a little smaller than what was used on the official license plate back in the day (pic below). The border embossing looks generic so they painted on the extra border at the bottom for the county sticker to simulate the official plate.

There are several different reproductions out there. All of them are pretty cool. However, the closest I have seen in appearance to this original are the ones produced by group member Travis Bell with Celebrity Machines. I like that his reproduction is a nice hybrid between the movie prop (appearance) and the official plate from 1976 (embossing). The Travis Bell with Celebrity Machines version can be purchased here.
