Spend the day exploring Jonesboro and some of the locations that helped bring Smokey and the Bandit to life.

We’ll start with a visit to the filming location of Snowman’s house, where Cledus “Snowman” Snow begins his run with the Bandit. We’ll spend some time at the location, share stories about the filming, and take a closer look at how the area appeared during production in 1976.

Picnic at Snowman’s House

While we’re there, we’ll enjoy a casual picnic and spend some time visiting with other fans.

This isn’t intended to be a formal sit-down event — just a chance to slow down, grab something to eat, talk about the movie, and enjoy being at one of its original filming locations.

Explore the Filming Locations

After the picnic, we’ll continue exploring Smokey and the Bandit filming locations in and around Jonesboro.

Jonesboro was at the center of much of the movie’s Georgia production, and many familiar scenes were filmed within just a few miles of downtown.

We’ll visit and point out several locations, compare them with scenes and behind-the-scenes photographs from 1976, and share some of the stories we’ve uncovered while researching the making of the movie.

Historic Downtown Jonesboro

You’ll also have time to explore historic downtown Jonesboro on your own.

Walk around downtown, visit the local shops, grab a drink or something to eat, and take in a town that looked very different when Burt Reynolds, Jerry Reed, Sally Field, Jackie Gleason, and the rest of the cast and crew arrived here in 1976.

For Smokey and the Bandit fans, downtown Jonesboro isn't just another stop — it's part of the movie's history.

A Relaxed Day in Jonesboro

This day is intentionally a little more relaxed. Rather than rushing from one stop to another, we want to leave time to enjoy the locations, visit with other fans, take photographs, and explore Jonesboro.

Come for the filming locations, stay for the picnic, and spend some time experiencing the place where so much of Smokey and the Bandit was made.
